This is a monument constructed in memory of the German Jewish philosopher Walter Benjyamin(1882-1940)on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his death in Port Bou,a Spanish town nerw the French border, where Bunjamin commited suicide and was buried.
It is composed of three parts : a steel tunnnel,33 metres in lemgth, which streches over a cliff near the public cemetery where Benjamin lies ; a discontinued fight of stairs cast in steel and in-stalled near an olive tree growing in a corner of the cemetery ; and a platform made of a combination of steel and cubes and installed in front of a fence behind the cemetery.
